A.W. Perry is mourning the loss of our friend and President, Richard Beal.
Rich passed away suddenly on Monday, September 21, and we are heartbroken by the untimely passing of our beloved colleague. Rich was first and foremost a dedicated father and husband, and he was also an exceptional leader to our A.W. Perry team and in the Greater Boston real estate and business community.
After a twenty-year career coaching college sports, Rich joined A.W. Perry in 2004. He immersed himself in and contributed to the success of all aspects of the Company’s business including real estate investment, residential and commercial development and property management. In 2011, he founded and became President of Perry Brokerage/Perry CRE, a full-service commercial brokerage operation providing leasing, sales and acquisition services in the Greater Boston area. Recognizing his achievements, in March 2017, our Board elected him President and Chief Executive Officer. A great-great grandson of our founder, he was the fifth generation of Perry family stewardship of our Company. He followed in the path of eight distinct Perry family leaders including his father, S. Maxwell Beal, Jr. He was proud to carry on the legacy and traditions of our firm.
Since assuming the CEO position, he has been an inspirational mentor to a growing and enthusiastic A.W. Perry team focused on his vision of growing our Company and practicing excellence in serving our tenants and clients.

Throughout his career, Rich has been an industry leader, serving as Chairman of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, President of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA-Boston) and Chairman of the South Shore Economic Development Corporation. He also served on the boards of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District, Historic Boston Incorporated, and was an Incorporator of South Shore Bank.

Visiting hours will be at the Pine Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham on Sunday September 27 from 2-6 PM. (Masks and social distancing are required). A funeral service will be held at the Hingham Congregational Church and, due to COVID restrictions, limited to family and close friends by invitation on Monday September 28 at 11 AM.
